Principal's Post

Principal’s Thoughts….

This was a short, but great week full of engaging learning experiences for our students! Make sure you ask about some of the amazing writing happening in the classroom and displayed throughout the building.
We completed our Carolina Clemson Food Drive and we raised over 651 nonperishable items that will be donated to our local food drive and backpack program to benefit members of the Blythewood community.  This is a great lesson on citizenship and a wonderful example of how working together helps the community.  Thanks so much for all your support.  Good luck to all of our Carolina and Clemson fans!
This is a wonderful time of year. A time of Thanksgiving, when family and friends enjoy delicious food, tell stories, watch football, share what they are thankful for, and most importantly count their blessings.  During the month of November we remember the gifts of family and friends, what it means to be a good citizen by thinking of others, and showing gratitude for all that’s been given to us.  Please take a moment during the break to reflect on the things that you are thankful for and enjoy those things that are important to you.
Everyone at Langford Elementary wishes all of you a very happy, safe, and healthy Thanksgiving.

“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary
opportunities into blessings.”

Google Apps, QR codes, and history!

Mrs Johnson's 4th grade class recently completed a study on the culture of Native Americans. As a culminating activity, students demonstrated their learning by sharing researched facts in both written and illustrated form. The students then created a presentation with Google Slides, that included photograph(s) and researched key facts. Students generated QR codes to accompany the first part of their assignment using a QR extension on their chromebooks. Students were asked to keep in mind that their presentations would be viewed on a variety of devices and to think about font size, color and contrast.
Get your QR readers ready, and take a peek at some Langford Lab's Learning!
