Spotlight Classroom Featuring: 5th Grade!

Each week, a grade level classroom will be featured here on a our Blog. Great Things are taking place at Langford and we invite YOU to take a Peek!

Human Decimal Place Value Activity

In math class, all the concepts and skills we have been studying have been centered around decimal value place. However, since 3/4 of the 5th grade curriculum is geared more towards operations with decimals and fractions, it is crucial students have a strong foundation of decimals and fractions. During this particular day of Focus Group Rotation Day, the students participated in an activity reinforcing decimal place value called "Human Decimal Place Value Line Up." I would display a decimal in word form and students had to work within their groups to display the decimal in standard form on the place value chart. This activity was definitely a hit and had the students thinking and moving the entire lesson.

No School on Wednesday, Oct. 8 through Friday, Oct. 9

Hello Langford Families:

I pray you all haven’t been affected too much by the recent floods, and are adhering to the requests from our local officials to stay off the roads. At this time, Richland School District Two has determined it is in the best interest of the safety of our students, parents, employees and community members to cancel school for Wednesday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 9, 2015 due to dangerous travel conditions for our school buses and uncertain water services.

Please use this time to catch up on some good books or enjoy some fun projects as a family.  Continue to follow the local news and district website for further updates.

To Our Langford Community:

It is utterly amazing the weather and road conditions we are all facing. I hope that everyone is adhering to the requests from our local officials to stay off the roads to ensure that everyone is able to return to school safe when it is clear for us to do so.
